Chapter 6 and 7

Whew! Busy week this week. Kirsti, praying for you and your Dad. Susan, hoping you survive the dreaded conference reports. Friday, a day off, will be your light at the end of all that hard work.  Mom, praying that the transition to Florida is  smooth  and not too exhausting for both you and Dad. Just a normal week for me. Sometimes, normal is welcoming.
Maybe this is the perfect week to complete the sentence that Kyle presents to us on page 98. "By the power of the Holy Spirit......."  How would you complete that sentence?
Galatians 5:25  " If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the spirit."
We need to ask for his presence more than just once a week on Sunday mornings. So grateful that there is a way to follow him without relying on me.

  1. So far have successfully turned to my Bible study first thing every morning this week. Very tempting this morning when I set down at my desk to see that I had left my computer on all night and almost started to read my emails but quickly clicked it off. Heard an interesting talk on the radio during drive time yesterday..."opening your Bible fisrt thing in the morning gives God a chance to whisper in our ear what he wants us to reflect on during the day before we have the world ( facebook, emails, texting) shouting at us all the other distractions in life. We live what we hear. If only it were that easy. By the power of the holy spirit, I shut off my computer and spent my time with God reflecting what I need to do to be a follower.

  2. By the power of the Holy Spirit let me say YES to totally surrendering to you. May I give up trying to live in a world where I try to be in charge and allow the Holy Spirit to take over. May I stand back and say, "Wow" the Holy Spirit has empowered me to do the right thing. It doesn't mean my life is going to be easy, but it will feel right.
I realize now that I am not taking advantage of the power I could have if I relied and submitted to the Holy Spirit. Once again I am not taking advantage of all that has been given to me freely. More to come, more thinking and waiting for your thoughts

  3. It is so hard to relinquish that control to God and the Holy Spirit. All we have to do is ask and how many times do we not throw up our hands and say, " I surrender. I can not do it without you. You are in the driver's seat." I agree with you, Susan, not taking advantage of all that has been offered us.

  4. Quote on page91 says God with you is good, God in you is better. Ireally have never thought of it as separate direction. With vs In
We are not strong without his being in us. I try to tell myself about the need to refresh this daily with His word. I found it interesting that if I become so immersed with Christ that we are one. I have never reached that level. It is a life process. "By the power of the Holy Spirit I......... " I can do, I can cope, I can forgive, and yet it isn't what I do but how I commit myself to Him.
